Bullshit and Random Banter / Need a new front bike light
« on: January 16, 2011, 12:30:33 PM »

My front bike light is crap, it eats batteries at a rate of 4 a month, dims to almost nothing in cold weather, and don't think it likes the rain either.

Looking to buy a new one, any suggestions?

News and Club Info / Rejoining the club this year
« on: September 22, 2010, 04:17:26 PM »
I was wondering how I might rejoin the club this year.

Just recieved my "You must renew" e-mail from the sports park. With the consumer choice of one option (No sports club membership anymore) and it had the following in it:

"Want to re-join a student sports club?

Returning student members are advised that if you wish to re-join a student sports club you will need to sign on with the student club before renewing and paying for your club registration at Surrey Sports Park Front of House."

Who do I sign on with? Secretary?

Bullshit and Random Banter / Need to borrow a socket set
« on: July 23, 2010, 03:25:15 PM »

I need to borrow a socket set, and wrench if someone has some lying about. The nut securing one side of my crank on my bike was too loose, and so is no longer attached. I've got a torque wrench, just no sockets, only allan key bits.

Below is the list of people I have already who want to go on this bus. If you want to come, let me know!

Plan is to leave no later than 6pm to get to the reception in time. My suggestion for pickup is campus, probably UniSport, as its nice and central and well known. However, I may be convinced to do shuttles around Guildford.

Otherwise, I'm going to have to try and scrounge a lift from someone. :D

Thought I'd put the idea out there.

Social Events / PlayZone - any interest
« on: March 20, 2010, 08:40:59 AM »

I went on a RAG social last night to The Playzone in Portsmouth. Cost was 9 and that included entry and transport.

Essentially they open it to adults one friday a month and it was a barrel of laughs. Its amazing how quickly you become a kid again and start running around playing tag.

Is there any interest from the club as having this as a social event?

Social Events / Tea and cake party - Oct 11
« on: September 22, 2009, 01:01:18 AM »
Howdy people.

With the social secs permission I'd like to propose a tea and cake party. It's been so long since we have had one.

I'd think starting at around 2pm on 11th october in my back garden. Weather permitting. And after checking with my housemates. Although I don't think it will be a problem. Will there be some kind of social event on the Saturday celebrating freshers and returners that this could be the chill out for?

I'll even buy in teabags especially.

:D :D

Social Events / Floppy Blue C**k
« on: September 16, 2009, 02:01:25 PM »
A.k.a Watchmen.

The DVD came through today and I will be watching it at my house from about 20.30. I.e. when I get back from work. I'll probably buy some pizza from Tesco as well if anyone want to join in.

If you do give me a text and I'll give you my address.

Climbing Talk / Club Membership Options
« on: August 14, 2009, 01:29:37 PM »
I'm currently budgeting for next year and I'm curious about the club membership options.

Somehow 100ish to join via UniSport seems a little steep, especially as I'll be using Vertex even less and possibly not at all next year. And yes we have the sports centre coming, but still.

I see the BMC joining fee of 17.35 which gives me personal disabilty insurance and civil liability and it seems a whole lot more attractive.

But then there's the issue of club gear and transport. No point saving 100 to have to spend loads on rack and rope.

Any chance at one of those old fart 10 token memberships to use minibuses/gear? Talking of which, my unisport membership has ended, so currently maybe technically I'm not part of the club anyway?

Even though I paid for a years membership of the club, I don't have a unisport membership to credit it to.

Any clarification of how it all works?

Bullshit and Random Banter / Who's our weather geek...

Just for fun, lets see who is best to ask about the weather. Seeming as we rely on it so much.

Bullshit and Random Banter / Any graduates still looking for a job?
« on: July 08, 2009, 10:58:05 AM »
This would suit some of our female members maybe...

Students would have got this through their e-mail, but I thought the Old Farts might want a giggle too....

His laptop has broken.

He's in search of something computer based he could borrow until he can retrieve his spare.

He thinks his fan controller or fan may have gone, so if anyone has any knowledge of these things speak up.

Howdy people,

I have one spare ticket to see Star Trek at the Imax on Sat 09/05/09 at 11.40am. Early I know, but afterwards we want to move on for some food somewhere in London.

Others going:

Louise Foote (some people know her)
Ben Burton (my friend from my course)
