Thanks Stick that would be great.

Alan - I'm in London and no chance to pick up helmet before holiday.  Also not taking hold luggage as it doub;ed the costs of my lovely cheap flight and I'm only there for 5 nights so packing light.  Have to fit all into my (just about 1 cm too deap hope they don't notice) bag.

YEY - can't wait to see you all on Monday.

I've wangled a bed for the night on Sunday 10 mins from the airport and a free lift at 6:00.  I'm so happy no horrid treck from london at 4:30 am.  Yippee

Argh forgot about the need for extra insurance for climbing - will see if i can get this added to my policy.  I also do not have a helmet, only plan to do short stuff though so maybe if there are a few club ones out there they can be shared around?  If anyone's happens to have space for a spare helmet for me that would be great - but as I've already got people taking my harness and shoes I feel very greedy asking for more space so no worries if this can't happen.

Julia if your not going to wash we'll have no snuggling in a double bed - I'll have to put you in the pool and you'll have to stay their until you're clean.

I will make sure I have cash for you clairey.  Is it still ok to be collectd from airport yes??

Will be flying out on Monday morning from Stanstead and coming back to stanstead on the saturday.  Will be booking flights tonight.  Think it will be these flights:

Check your itinerary
Mon 26 Sep 2011
07:30   STN London Stansted   Ryanair   FR8321
11:00   VLC Valencia   2h 30

Sat 1 Oct 2011
21:25   VLC Valencia   Ryanair   FR8326
22:50   STN London Stansted   2h 25

I hope (fingers crossed) - someone would be able to come and get me on the Monday morning in one of the hire cars.  As I'd only be there for 5 nights I reckon I could fit all my stuff in a hand lugguage bag if I could sneakly squeeze my shoes and harness into someone who has space in their hold lugguage?

I haven't yet read the whole of this thread but will do later, and will sort out any money etc stuff.

Other Activities / I'm in a show on Saturday

I'm in a show with work this Saturday in South London, at the Albany

I can get you in for buy one get one free meaning it would be £6 per ticket.  I'll be playing my violin, and running around like a mad man trying to tour manage as well.  If any of you are free it would be great to see some of you there.  Details below.

Featuring a selection of Britain’s most treasured world and jazz musicians, as well as rising stars from Grand Union's own Youth Orchestra, Can’t Chain Up Me Mind is set to take the audience of the Albany, one of South East London’s favourite venues on a memorable musical journey.
The atmosphere of Caribbean and South American Carnival fuelled by West African and Cuban rhythms is augmented by South African township beats, touches of Eastern European and Romany Gypsy melody, north Indian Ragas and traditional song from Bangladesh.
Can't Chain Up Me Mind brings together an extraordinary selection of authentic exponents from a wide variety of musical fields including tabla master Yousuf Ali Khan (Bangladesh), exuberant percussionists Lilia Iontcheva (Bulgaria) and Carlos Fuentes (Chile), Gypsy violin virtuoso Marek Czureja and the haunting voice of Gunes Cerit (Turkey) as well as renowned jazz soloists Claude Deppa (trumpet) and Louise Elliott (saxophone).

The show also features members of the Grand Union Youth Orchestra who will perform alongside their mentors in an explosive and energy filled set as part of the evening’s programme.

Come and meet some of the musicians before the show at a free pre-show talk at 6:45 pm.  We look forward to seeing you there.

So just thought I'd let you know.

All the best

I could be around on the 22nd potentially and also have had a bag of clothes waiting for charity shop that I could bring, though not sure what of my stuff will fit anyone.  Sounds like a fun idea

Grand Union Orchestra who I manage had a show "Trading Roots" recorded for Radio 3 the other day and i'm hoping some of you may be interested to give it a wee listen on iPlayer

If you like any of the following you'll like this.  Jazz, bigband, world music, classical music.  Give it a try you might find you like it!

Hope to see you all soon. :D :D :D

And if you fancy something completely different come to my show (well I'm not in it but it's the orchestra I manage)

And if you can't come (which I imagine will most likely be the case) then listen to the show at 7pm on 8th March on BBC Radio 3

Trading Roots: a musical journey across boarders

The Grand Union Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra are joining forces on March 6th 2011 in a one-off multicultural musical collaboration, called Trading Roots.

Nearly 100 of the UKs best classical, jazz and world musicians will be gathered on the historic Hackney Empire stage to celebrate the power and beauty of our musical migrations across continents and through the ages. Indian and Chinese classical virtuosos mingle with African rhythms and percussion and the symphonic brilliance of Concert Orchestra strings to create a magical sonic cocktail. Four sublime singers paint revealing pictures of the rise and fall of empires, ancient and modern, and their trading routes by sea and land.
