skydiving
« on: January 29, 2007, 09:45:54 AM »
Before xmas there was talk of a few people being interested in doing a sky dive this year.  I really want to and it'd be cool to go along with other people.

im probably looking to do a tandem jump as ive never done any before (costs about ?175 it seems)

Let me know if you're interested or any good companies to look into.

I think the talk before Christmas was of paying about ?200 and training up to the first solo over a weekend. That I was veryvery interested in. This I'm quite interested in :) We need to track down whoever that skydiving guy from December was...

really?? sounds a bit unlikely. you can do a static line solo jump in a wkend but freefall needs more training. unless somewhere has started doing crash courses!

2 day courses are about ?350 and you do about 3 jumps i think with two other instructors to help you, Tandem is tyhe way forward, 5 mins training and its amazing, static line is for pussies. need the freefall to get the buzz.

Hooks in your arms, tied to a bedsheet...Im sure it would work Neek :)

Ive done a static line jump before and it was a great rush. Be fun to do another one. Prefer static line rather than tandem though as like the idea of being in control rather than a spectator

Am I missing something?  Surely static line is even less in control?  As you jump out the thing opens automatically....non?

that's the idea but they don't always open and if it goes wrong there's only you to pull the reserve otherwise you go splat!

The control comes from you being able to control the parachute on the way down and having to land it yourself.
