Anyone remember these?
« on: November 17, 2008, 10:04:52 AM »
I'll start this thread off, a kind of nostalgia exercise for the older ones among us.

I particularly want to buy one of these:

I remember these BUT I will not admit that I am getting old!!!
Loose rock, grass and incoming tides all add to the enjoyment!!

pah that looks far too modern. the turtle i remember was more angular. i did always think it was great getting to to draw stuff using loops...hmmm maybe that's why i've ended up as a programmer - it's all the fault of that damn robot! ;)

did you use Logo on screen instead? usually just a white arrow that you can give a list of commands to - fwd 10, right 90, fwd 10, pen up, etc?

the point of the turtle was to move around the floor carrying out a sequence of simple commands. it was a way of teaching very basic programming to kids. the language, Logo has simple fwd, backwards, turn X degrees left ro right etc. Also get pen up/down. adding the turtle robot just made it more interesting that watched a cursor move around the screen...

Oh no - that looks loads more modern than anything we had when I was at school  :( We just had some lego technical buggies with two motors and skid steering that we controlled from a big green box connected to a BBC micro and programmed in BBC Basic.

It seems that you have to be old to know what it is but not too old as people like matt and blondie don't know what it is.  Or maybe they did have them but their memory doesn't go back that far!!
