Favour to ask! :-)
« on: March 10, 2012, 06:18:00 PM »
Heeey guys, massive favour to ask.. feel a bit of a willy for asking...

I'm moving house to London next Friday or Saturday and I need to hire a van as I have bike, wardrobe etc etc. I'm gonna hire a kendalls van and am crapping myself as haven't driven in a year, never in London, and never a van.. soo.. I'm basically pleaing for anyone to offer up their driving skills please and thank you. I feel really bad asking as I should just man up but don't want to kill an innocent London cyclist.. I will buy you maaaany many drinks and be forever in your debt. :-)

Thaaanks guuuys!! :-)

You'll need an old person, or someone who can write anything but student on the insurance as I'm pretty sure they won't insure them.

How many years do you need to have had your licence to hire?

I had to drive one for my brother a couple of weeks ago as he hasn't had his licence for more than 3 years.

from their website:

TOP LIST

Age
We accept drivers aged 25-70yrs with a clean licence. If you are 21-24, 70-80 or have certain endorsements it may still be possible to hire if arranged by phone with the branch prior to pick up. Please ring the relevant branch.

TOP LIST

Licence
Hirer's must have held a full licence for at least 12 month. For minibus and Cargo rentals hirers must have passed their test prior to January 1997 or hold the relevant categories on their license.. Please check all endorsements with our office when booking as some endorsements are not acceptable. New UK licence is issued in two parts and both must be produced.

TOP LIST

Endorsements
Many endorsements are acceptable eg, an SP30 (speeding). Over 6 points or recent endorsements may cause a higher excess or refusal of hire. Management reserve the right to refuse hire for any endorsements if needed. If in doubt please ring the pick up branch with the details of your endorsements and conviction dates etc.

Why don't you hire the union van for a really important 3 person climbing trip?

They might hire to under 25s if you phone them it says?

Kendals do hire to 21s and over as long as you're not a student. I'd suggest a Kendals as a) It's insured and b) It'll cost the same if you do it in an evening.

And this might be Novelty Matt
