CD/DVD Driver missing/iTunes problems
« on: July 08, 2012, 11:19:17 PM »
So I'm annoyed now. I'm currently using Windows Vista, it's completely up-to-date, as is my iTunes. But for some reason it says there's a problem with the CD driver/disc recorder not being found. I've gone through several forums, deleting UpperFiles in the Registry thing, restarting the computer, recreating the files with a new gear driver in it, blah blah blah. Nothing's working. PLEASE HELP ME.

Oh, and my device driver (HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GT30N) is apparently up to date, but I get this message in the Device Manager:
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
When checking for solutions, nothing comes up.

Yes because that really helps my problem. FYI, the last time I used a Mac it crashed twice a day when opening Word. So yeah, not a fan of that either.

Chris, I can just imagine you standing in front of an angry bear with a big stick thinking "Hmmm. I wonder what would happen if..."

Haha yeah, sorry about that! I was pretty annoyed, but eventually managed to fix it after tinkering with all kinds of command prompts and reinstalled drivers.

Just gonna put a shout out for the linux crew - Macs aren't the only alternative to Windows.

Try linux - it's free, you can try it out without changing anything on your computer, and it will run on your current PC/Mac
Would you like fries with that deep-fried?

Linux porn: rtfm; unzip; strip; touch; finger; mount; fsck; more; yes; umount; zip; sleep;

I use one of the students at work as an operating system. I find by shouting what I want at the student my computer does exactly what I want. Simple to use but does hurt my throat occasionally. I also have the only operating system in the office that makes tea for me ;)

It's true, use apple, a basic computer will only set you back around 250,000,000!

Oh yes we have one of those for troubleshooting but I mean overall use of computer. I just find all that mouse moving and typing a bit tiring. Easier to get someone else to do it.

Actually yes we had recently uninstalled Norton. But the problem began after an update to iTunes. It's all working fine and dandy now though.
