Belay Gloves
« on: November 08, 2012, 08:43:40 PM »
Anyone use belay gloves a lot?
I get bloody cold hands even when I'm not at the crag and so I'm considering investing in a pair. Possibly these bad boys: http://www.bananafingers.co.uk/black-diamond-crag-full-finger-glove-p-1596.html

Anyone who uses / has used them does the belay feel as secure? How do you rate them?

I've used gloves for belaying - I find they're ok for bringing up a second but I wouldn't use them for lead belaying as it requires more dexterity..

I've belayed in my Loki hoody when its fully deployed and a downy over the top, no problems. Though if it is that cold it's bouldering season.

I always belay in these if I'm outside:

Really good, really warm, can lead belay in them fine, surprisingly waterproof too. Definitely recommend.

My hands are shit and cold all the time.

I use a pair of Buffalo Mittens ~20? they are amazing and a million times warmer than any gloves, mitts are the future!

They take a bit of getting used to with double ropes but are fine, although i usually climb on a single with a grigri (grigri's are the future too!)
