The uber tent will be coming as long as you don't mind being leaked on.

so excited I forgot to write my actual message! how does trip organiser want us old farts who are comming down Sun and leaving some point the week after to pay?

We could either pay the club for Sun to wed, then settle up the extra days with the campsite seperatly or just pay the campsite directly. I have to say I'd rather just pay the campsite as it is less faffy.

Also we will sort out our own transport as we are heading down late. I think the list so far is:
Tor
Nic Elf
Weeman
Tarryn
Novelty
Lib Claire

If you want to sort your own payment, that's fine by me

SPLOSH! We currently haven't got enough people or drivers for buses. So if you can take some people in a car from Guildford (Weds - Weds) please let me know!

Would it be possible to join Splosh and get a seat on the bus?
...just noticed I'm on the list... great. Thanks whoever did that!
Is the bus going to be wed to wed or tue to wed?

The weather is utter gash and shows no sign of improvement in the near future. Last night on sky news cornwall & devon were all coloured red as mega death weather warning thing.

If it chooses to snow again the union is allowed to veto our use of minibuses.

I was talking to Brian today and neither of us can see a point to trekking all that far to get wet and muddy for no real climbing gains. A week in teashops and pubs is a very expensive hobby.

We intend to keep an eye on weather forecasts and weather warnings etc.

Brian and I are going to decide Monday lunch time if we're going to do Splosh.
Not a decision I'm hugely keen on but if someone could explain exactly the attraction of an expensive, wet and cold week devoid of climbing feel free.

Cue endless bitching.

Weather forecasts more than 5 days in advance are unreliable, it's impossible to say this far in advance what the weather will be like next weekend.

edit: And the forecast for the next 5 days says that Cornwall is going to be dry, so i don't really know what you're chatting about. :sunny:

What?! No way guys! Loads of opportunities for walking and its never going to be wet for the whole time. If it really looks that bad then push it a bit later i.e. Saturday

UK forecasts beyond 3 days are fiction.. especially for the end of cornwall - you can get different weather on the north and south coasts at the same time...

Whilst i agree with sentiments about variable weather down there, low pressure everywhere means low pressure everywhere. Walks are also nice, but not 600 miles of driving nice. Plenty of picturesque areas on our doorstep.

This also doesn't change the fact that the union can stop us from taking the bus anyway, and if the ground here is anything to go by we will be camping in a quagmire.

Regardless, unless it's really looking shit, I plan to go ahead. This was a heads up, announcing the possibility that maybe SPLOSH might be cancelled. Still, it fits within the UKC posting guidelines (something inflammatory) and I appreciate your input. You may do what you like with your cars.

It costs us nothing to keep the minibus sat on my driveway all week. So if the weather makes a change we could scramble to Cornwall.

Failing that a day trip down to Portland might be on the card, we can hit up white spider or reading climbing centre too.
