Lessons Learned from Splosh 2013.
« on: March 04, 2014, 06:49:16 PM »
As per last year some procrastination occured and produced the following list:

  • No such thing as wind, it's just sunshine in motion
  • You can only get away with burning someone's foot if they're as keen as Ali G
  • Pre drinking half a bottle of wine for the meadery is a great idea....
  • Three people on the zip wire ends painfully, especially if one of them is cox...
  • There is everything wrong with bridging with no gear, just don't mention it
  • The zip on a tent door is 8475398573 times harder to operate when your tent mate is about to vom inside the tent
  • If people need removing from the pub, Izzy
  • Frenchmen love it if you sleep bollock naked next to them
  • they'll even ask if they can share a tent with you in future.
  • The minibus doesn't actually work as a windbreak
  • Hydraulic jump is more interesting than climbing if your name starts with A... and ends in dam Wade
  • If food is missing from your tent, murder the cat
  • The discussion of how many miles you are from bristol should be held daily over breakfast
  • It is impossible to hear dance electro mix #60 too many times in a week
  • It's all about the journey

Ones to add:

"Always push for more mead when at the meadery, the hangover gods look favourably upon the bold."

"Cornwall police are not bothered about being run past by someone with a traffic cone on their head."

"''Borrowing' traffic cones is a 'good' idea when smashed and coming back from the meadery."
"Man, this route is just not my style."

"Technique is no substitute for power"- Ben Moon

"Spread your legs and trust the rubber." - Unknown

If you vomit and are too hungover to deal with this fact simply place a traffic cone on the offending pile and all will be well.

If you don't trust a rusty peg enough to commit to a move then backing off the route by abseiling from said peg is a great idea.

Now 2 extra showers for each gender to help that problem.

Failing that we catch a few crabs (the actual crustaceans not the STI) when we go to a beach, and then put them under the door if anyone takes too long :P
