I thought I'd post as I want to do it again in the summer, on the 26th of July.

(Silly people like Gabby and Kev are doing the winter one on the 32nd Jan).

Now some of yous might not know what toughguy is, it's a short (6k) run followed by two laps of a small (30ft high ~25 different obsticle) assault course. See for a brief scare -it's not that bad.

If you've done it before it appears to be 30 if you pay before the 1st Feb, which means getting entries in early!  After that it goes up to 60 (and upwards).

If you haven't done it before it's 60, however there are team discounts and student discounts.

If people are interested please post and I'll ring up one of Mr Mouses assistants to find out what the prices actually are, and hopefully we'll be able to get it in as early as possible and get it for a cheap as possible!

Oh and the best bit, if you win, you get a medal!

Me - 3282
Warren -2056
Gabby wabby
Alf - 2059
Stinks - 3281
Elf - 3280
Becky B -new

Maximum -maybe

Cost will be 54 for newbies

And about 49 for previous entrants

(providing we have 8+ people entering at the same time, gabby has all ready entered)

Bullshit and Random Banter / Annual Christmas Tree Decoration Competition
« on: December 19, 2008, 04:52:41 PM »
Gabro and I feel it is about time (6 days before Christmas) to have a Christmas Tree Decoration Competition.

Our entry is shown below, we do not know if it should have the hat or not, and so are welcome to ideas.  We think you'll agree it is decorated very traditionally.

My new phone doesn't have a very good camera, hence the crapness of pictures :(

Other Activities / Route setting at the Vertex
« on: November 22, 2008, 04:29:41 PM »
Chalkie asked me today if we could route set at some point.

As ever it has to be on a Saturday, evening, and he needs a little bit of notice as he might need to get someone to sit on the front desk (although it might be possible to have an instructor lock up instead).

Anyone free in a few weekends time? 13th December is the next clear weekend from what I can see, although I know loads of people might have exams or work due in, else it can always be in January.....

Also spoke to him about food/drink, he said that Pizza might be easier than that should be re-imburable, but we will have to see about that.

Bullshit and Random Banter / Cheap port
« on: November 21, 2008, 12:14:29 PM »
In case anyone has a craving for large quantities of port, Tesco currently have an offer on, which seems quite reasonable.  It is 25% off when you buy 6 bottle of wine, champagne or port, I got some last night, the Taylors first estate reserve is currently on 'offer' at 6.39 a bottle, so with discount it came to 4.80, and Cockburns reserve is 7.28 (5.46), which I don't think is bad for what they are.  Downside, you have to buy 6 bottles; upside, you have 6 bottles to match the others you should own.  A word of warning, as Tesco are the tightest bastards in the world their bottle carriers don't work, the bottom fell out of mine when Hannah looked at it.

If you didn't know port is fortified wine which doesn't taste as alcoholic as it is.  It is the perfect accompaniment to your cheese board, a generic party night or a climbing trip evening.  It can be mixed with Blue to create a cheeky vimto, Al and Charlie are some of the avid enthusiasts of this drink whilst drunk.  Reserve means that its pretty crap in the grand scale of port (it is to port what Smirnoff red is to vodka), but they are trying to make it sound nice, it's pretty palatable though.

Yay for wasted time.

Bullshit and Random Banter / Exciting News: Southway is being resurfaced
« on: October 17, 2008, 11:38:22 AM »
Well I got excited when I saw the sign, it starts on the 5th November for 3 days.

Now which other roads shall we moan about to get resurfaced?

Other Activities / Site specific volunteers wanted! Friday 7th November
« on: October 16, 2008, 02:03:41 PM »
Jess, Miller, Hannah and myself will all be doing the site sepcific assessement on the 7th November, and we need volunteers to teach, if you're free any time we'd love to attempt to teach you (it doesn't matter if you know everything all ready).  Each slot will be an hour long, don't know exactly what times, but we'll sort that out closer to the time.

Climbing Trips / Gas

Anyone know where the gas lives these days, should it still be in the shed?

The two I have are pretty dead.

Social Events / Win/Incest House Party Friday 7th November
« on: October 03, 2008, 09:25:24 AM »
To celebrate that we have a new house we thought we'd have a house warming party, we then forgot about this until last week when we decided we should actually have one, 5 months after we moved in.

Katie, Rowan, Hannah and myself all wanted one at halloween, but that's freshers trip so we're going for tight fireworks night with a late halloween instead (hopefully all the fireworks and halloween crap will be cheap as it's after the 31st/5th).

The theme should be something around halooween so everyone has to dress up and look silly scary.  We'll of course provide some alcohol probably in blood red or some similar form of disgusting colour, maybe even some super snakebite for Adam.  I may even find much food colouring to ensure E number goodness as well as correctly coloured drinks.

Everyone is invited but much booze will be required as I intend to have a worse hangover the day after than after the cocktail party.  And as it's a Friday there is no excuse not to come (Stick excluded), we've purposefully attempted to plan round everything/one (almost).

Bullshit and Random Banter / Pubs for lunch in the ford
« on: September 20, 2008, 04:56:44 PM »
A supplier is coming down on Monday, so I'll be getting a free lunch out of him, where should we go, he asked if there is a decent pub for food.  I'd have said the kings head in the past, but that's turned to any suggestions?  The drummond?

Social Events / Batman - The Dark Knight - NOW Weds 9pm
« on: July 20, 2008, 07:52:46 PM »
It's finally out, on Thursday, who wants to go see it?  I'll attempt to pop in to town tomorrow to aquire the golden tickets.  Anyone else want to come?  We're going at 9.15 (screen 2), when the kids should be locked up, and for you people who have the unfortunate nessesity to go to work -and there are still seats.

If you want me to get you a ticket, please also let me know if you're a student or not, so I get the right sort.

And if people were thinking about seeing it at the iMax it's sold out for a while (I wanted to go!), and its a tenner + travel (unless you're fatty and work in the village)

Social Events / Pizza Hut Buffet
« on: July 11, 2008, 08:25:58 AM »
Me, gabby and warren are going to go to pizzy hut for a bloating for lunch, we're going to try to get there early (12) to fend off the crowds of business people wanting a friday lunch.

If you want to come along we'll see you there, or give us a ring so we know to look out for you!

And if lots of people wants to come we can always make it a bit later and I'll attempt to book a table, looks like you might be able to do this....

Social Events / Night of Merriment -tomorrow 2nd
« on: July 01, 2008, 08:50:07 PM »
We've decided we need to get slightly drunken in our new house, as we have yet to, so we want to have a night of merriment.

If anyone would like to come along you're more than welcome, I know its late notice, so if no one comes us four will just get drunken regarldess.

Oh and if you want feeding we're going to be doing home made pizza so bring stuff or let us know you're coming and we'll try and cater for you. Maybe say about 7pm kick off, hopefully much pizza dough will have been created by this point -fingers crossed!

Oh I'm also celebrating having non-broken glasses, so you also get to see my new stupid looking ones, this is something which shouldn't be missed at almost any cost.

Other Activities / Circuits Tuesday & Thursday (Toughguy training)
« on: April 06, 2008, 04:56:59 PM »
Circuits is on next week and I'd like to go as much as possible (well twice), but I can't go on my own as it's boring doing that, so if anyone would like to befriend me for an hour at the following times please say!

Tuesday - 5.30pm (Aaron)
Thursday - 5.30pm (Chalky or richard)

Then from the start of semester it'll be every Monday (5.10), Tuesday (5.10), Thursday (5.30) and Friday (6.30), but I'm sure everyone will want to do those, all the time.

Bullshit and Random Banter / The new sports centre
« on: April 02, 2008, 04:05:28 PM »
From what I'd heard of the new amazing bling sports for all centre, there was meant to be a big climbing wall.  Whilst avoiding revision and doing coursework I looked at the plans (play spot the climbing wall);

It seems we've been almost left out, just like at every new university development (when I say every I mean Hertfordshire as I've been there), probably designed by the same bloke no doubt.

The wall is a whole 13m long , which they seem to boast about; I had a quick check on craggy and their traverse is 20m just to put things in to perspective.  And thats going to be 13m including any bouldering as far as I can see...I was hoping they'd have designed something like Warwick!

It probably won't affect me too much, but it's due for completion at the end of 2009, so it could affect quite a few of us and who knows how many more people who aren't here yet.
