News and Club Info / EGM 17th November
« on: November 11, 2009, 01:35:25 PM »
On the 17th November at 7:00pm we are going to hold an EGM to replace the club training officer as he is stepping down. Anyone can stand for this role and will then become one of the committee members till the AGM next year. The training officers role is as follows:

Training officers role

- Organising training of freshers and other new members (activites such as lead belaying, prussiking, sport leading)
- booking courses First Aid and SPA etc....
- Pro active involvement in club events.
- General enthusiasm for climbing!!

See you all there and good luck to all those who stand.

The Candidates!

Chris
I've not been on committee before, and would like to do something now I am no longer doing 5th year.
I've done SPA training, and the first aid course so think I have at least some of the skills to pass on.
I'm around on Wednesdays, although would like to discuss with all the freshers when the best time to run sessions are - we should aim to target these at climbing outside, and as such maybe aiming to run sessions before trips geared to that location would be more sensible.
I think we should look to encourage things for the more experienced people in the club, for example the BMC lectures like the one reading are running, and other similar courses. For example I would like to encourage the budget for next year to have a course for those at an SPA type level to have a weekend with keith for those who do not want to do the SPA.

Its all about having fun! But safely, and then we all like to geek about new stuff so lets keep learning!

Nathan
I've spent the last two years teaching freshers, and more specifically ran the sport leading course last year for all of our current second years, and even gave up days on trips last year to sign them off for outdoor leading.

I'm an SPA trained climber, and qualified paid instructor for the vertex so have a lot of experience teaching.

I'm doing a job that bores me to tears so am looking for something exciting to do so thought it would be fun to take on a role that I've helping do/ doing for the last two years.

And i'll be giving sexual favours....
