The what to do on the day thread IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
« on: April 21, 2010, 07:47:36 PM »
Hi All,

This is for everyone doing the vertical marathon, about what will be happening on the day.
  • Turn up - you can do this from 10am on saturday. We have less walls in the morning, so feel free to just turn up for the afternoon
  • You will have raised your 15 minimum sponsorship
  • You will go and see Weeman/An organiser who will tick you off the attendance list. If you have not already given us your personal details, these will be taken here
  • Go and buy a t-shirt (5) and some raffle tickets (both optional, but encouraged)
  • Try and group into groups of 3 to climb, one belaying, one climbing, and one resting.
  • Read the rules attached to this thread, you will be given a copy on the day.
  • Bring water with you. The vending machine is 1.20 for water, and 1.60 for nice things so try not to be ripped off
  • After each climb, add a tick to the piece of card at the end of the route, we will be counting these totals throughout the day.
  • Be nice to everyone, and have fun!

Sorry for the long list!

Chris.

Bloooomin Nora! - that's steep!

...Please note: We will have jugs of water by sign in, and some bottles of water to give out, incase you forget :) but try not to, eh? There's not enough for everyone! :P

Another important thing.

When lowering people down from routes, do it slowly like when normally climbing. Lowering people fast will trash the ropes!!
Many donkeys have tried to match wits with me, but almost all have failed.

and jsut to clarigy - if you haven't managed to raise 15, you can just turn up and pay the 15 out of your own pocket. Tiss up to you guys - but obviously we'd prefer if people really have a good crack at raising money - its for charity after all

Do we still need to get a member of SSP staff to sign us off? Also, we don't need membership/pay to come in do we? - I know this was brought up before but couldn't see an answer to it

no, and no.

You don't need membership and you wont have to pay - and like a club session the club will be responsible for your saftey so long as you've been signed off by the club your alright to belay.

SSP instructers will be present to keep an eye on us though I think and still have the right to shout at us if we are being stupid/unsafe.

@chris if you change the margins it all goes on one page, you also need to change my to by in the first bit
